COST ACTION PLASTHER FINAL MEETING – June 17-20, 2025 – Barcelona
Penetration mechanisms of cold atmospheric plasma through biliary and
pancreatic tissues for digestive cancer treatment
Emerick Biaffeu, a valuable team member from Sorbonne University’s Laboratory of Plasma Physics in France, presented his team’s research on behalf of Ignite Plasma, focusing on the therapeutic potential of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) for treating challenging cancer types.
This an ongoing and group effort on developing a minimally invasive surgical platform against pancreatic and biliary tract cancers.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHENOMENA IN IONIZED GASES 36TH EDITION
The project “IgnitePLASMA” spans across the field of plasma biomedicine, and it has been recently (2024)
awarded by the EIC. The consortium encompasses members from the academia and industry across four
different countries. In the present short report, the concept of the project is outlined, with a special focus
on the development of a closed-loop, computer-trainable platform for the generation of cold atmospheric
pressure plasma, which concerns a key technological objective of the project.
